Mold Health Risks

Mold poses serious health risks, particularly for individuals with allergies, asthma, or weakened immune systems. If left undetected, it can lead to respiratory issues, skin irritation, and even long-term health complications. Mold thrives in hidden areas such as walls, ceilings, and beneath floors, making it difficult to detect with traditional methods. That’s where our highly trained mold detection dog comes in.

1. Chronic Sinus Infections & Nasal Congestion

  • Mold spores can irritate the sinuses, leading to persistent stuffiness, sneezing, and recurring sinus infections that don’t respond well to typical treatments.

2. Unexplained Fatigue & Brain Fog

  • Mycotoxins released by mold can cause chronic fatigue, mental fog, memory issues, and difficulty concentrating. This is sometimes misdiagnosed as chronic fatigue syndrome or depression.

3. Respiratory Problems (Asthma & Chronic Coughing)

  • Mold spores can trigger asthma attacks, wheezing, shortness of breath, and an ongoing cough that won’t go away, often mistaken for allergies or a lingering cold.

4. Frequent Headaches & Migraines

  • Mold exposure can cause inflammation and sinus pressure, leading to persistent headaches or severe migraines, especially in mold-infested environments.

5. Unexplained Skin Rashes & Irritation

  • Mold exposure can trigger eczema, hives, dry skin, or itchy rashes, often confused with allergic reactions or dermatological conditions.

6. Digestive Issues (Nausea, Bloating, & IBS-Like Symptoms)

  • Mold toxins can affect gut health, leading to nausea, bloating, diarrhea, or symptoms similar to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

7. Increased Allergies & Sensitivities

  • Those exposed to mold often develop new or worsened allergies, reacting more intensely to dust, pet dander, or seasonal allergens.

8. Depression, Anxiety, & Mood Swings

  • Prolonged exposure to mold can impact neurological health, leading to depression, increased anxiety, mood swings, and even panic attacks.

9. Muscle & Joint Pain (Fibromyalgia-Like Symptoms)

  • Mold-related inflammation can lead to unexplained muscle aches, joint pain, and stiffness, mimicking conditions like arthritis or fibromyalgia.

10. Frequent Illness & Weakened Immune System

  • Mold exposure can suppress the immune system, making individuals more prone to frequent colds, infections, and slow recovery times.

Remarkable Dogs

Dogs have an extraordinary sense of smell, with abilities that far surpass those of humans. They can distinguish individual scents even when mixed, enabling them to detect specific ingredients in food or track a person’s scent in a crowded area. Their scent memory is so strong that they can recognize smells years later, helping them find their way home or remember people after long separations. Their tracking skills allow them to follow scent trails that are days or even weeks old, making them invaluable for search-and-rescue missions. Remarkably, dogs can also detect odors through water and beneath layers of earth, which is why they are used to locate buried objects, missing persons, and even underground leaks. Their powerful noses also make them highly effective at detecting mold hidden behind walls, under flooring, and behind tile with incredible accuracy—helping to identify issues that would otherwise go unnoticed. Their noses are truly one of nature’s greatest biological marvels.

Testimonials

About us

Ace Mold Detection is owned and operated by Karen and Fab. Married in 2010, Karen and Fab relocated from Southern California to Middle Tennessee in 2019.

While working as a hairstylist in a busy salon, Karen became increasingly aware of the growing impact of mold-related illnesses. As public awareness of mold exposure has expanded, so has the need for reliable detection methods. After discussing the idea with Fab—who was particularly intrigued by the prospect of adding a fourth rescue dog to their home—they decided to take action and help others address mold issues.

Karen reached out to Bill Whitstine, the pioneer of the mold detection method in which Ace was trained, and the plan was set in motion. Since mold detection requires a specific type of dog, Karen and Fab were committed to adopting a rescue rather than purchasing from a breeder. After months of searching shelters and online listings, they found Ace-a two-year-old beagle with an exceptional sense of smell, much like a hunting dog, and an incredible work ethic.

Following two months of acclimating to her new home and proving to be a great fit for their pack, Ace was sent to Florida to train under Bill at the Florida Canine Academy. For three months, she underwent intensive training to detect mold that often remains hidden—even from professional equipment. If it’s there, Ace will find it!

After Ace completed her training, Karen and Fab traveled to Florida for a week-long certification program in mold inspection, working hands-on with Ace and her trainer.

At Ace Mold Detection, we are passionate about helping people identify and address mold issues that could be affecting their health—whether at home or in the workplace.
